Private Residence—

Kukio Golf & Beach Club

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

This 5,137 sqft home overlooks incredible panoramic ocean views from its 1.68-acre lot.  We remolded the home to suit the client's desire for open, spacious, indoor/outdoor living by creating a Hawaiian-style aesthetic with contemporary details using local materials such as Koa, Mahogany, and Mango wood.  Local craftsmen created all millwork and custom furniture.  The Great Room features an entertainment center with smooth, clean lines made from Koa and Mahogany wood in juxtaposition to the textured walls made from grass cloth from Philip Jefferies.

The color schemes are pulled from the landscape and reflect a casual feel, mixing wood, woven, and upholstered pieces. We added a Media Room steps away from the kitchen where the kids can retreat and play.  The Master Bedroom has a feature wall, a modern patterned grass cloth from Philip Jefferies, and custom furniture made from Mango wood.  All bedroom color schemes were inspired by local bed throws/ art found on the island.  Each bedroom has a spacious bathroom with outdoor showers. The kid's bedroom was inspired by Hawaiian handmade quilts that take up to two years to make by local artisans.

Our team scoured the island, working with local artists, craftsmen, lighting fabricators, and stores to create an authentic Hawaiian local feel. The result was a relaxed environment reflecting a local island aesthetic with a clean line flare.

This turnkey renovation provided the owners a first stay in a home filled with accessories, photo walls, and outfitted bathrooms and kitchen—we created a home of warmth ready to create memories from many vacations to come.
